It’s unbelievable to think of, but certainly makes sense. It’s a bitter sweet moment to know that Disney world is closed down; however, it is a wretched hive of germs and illness.
With the recent ban of public gatherings in Florida, it makes sense that the parks would close. It seems like a legal nightmare if someone were to get sick. As of this Sunday, March 15th 2020 all Disney Theme Parks will close. The hotels and Disney Springs will remain open.
This is a good lesson and a good time to remember other viruses and illnesses are a constant threat, especially in highly populated areas like Disney.
Let’s recap the germs at Disney World.
Before you’re even through the gate, you’re on a full tram, touching that little silver handle to get on and off. Your things have been gone through by a security guard whose hands have touched every single thing in your bag, and the bag before that, and the bag before that, and so on. At the Tapstyles, you put your finger right where everyone else’s has been.
You buy a churro and the cashier takes your card, swipes it, and returns it to you. You’re constantly brushing sweat away from your face. Some kid just sneezed all over you, and lets not forget that we have to “PULL THE YELLOW STRAP”.
It’s a germaphobes nightmare – but there are certain steps you can take to keep safe.
When I was little, I liked to touch the railings, the floor, and everything. My parents stuck with their discipline and reminded me that it was bad to do that, and eventually I stopped. They were absolutely right – I’ve seen grown adults cough into their hands, then place both on the rails. I guess Disney is just a great place to act like a kid.
If you need the rails for assistance, was your hands regularly and use a napkin to open and close bathroom doors. Hand sanitizer is a must.
Bring your own food that is properly packaged.
Hand Sanitize
Don’t touch your face.
Don’t drink the It’s a small world water.
Or the Splash Mountain water.
Use your non-dominant hand to touch things that you must (like the darn yellow strap), and sanitize or wash when you are able.
Lysol wipe your phone – and your things in your hotel room.
When you arrive in your hotel room, lysol wipe the remote and basically everything high traffic.
Think of others when you’re in tight crowded areas.
Don’t high five the dude with the mickey hand at the exit either.
All in all – Just be mindful of others and careful for yourself and be sure to watch your kids, this here’s the grossest place in the wilderness!
